INTRODUCTION:

 

Neohesperidin dihydrochalcone, sometimes abbreviated to Neohesperidin DC or simply NHDC, is an artificial sweetener derived from citrus.

Neohesperidin dihydrochalcone (Neo-DHC) is synthesized by chemical treatment of neohesperidin, a bitter component of bitter orange, grapefruit, and other citrus fruit peel and pulp. Although it is derived from a natural source, it has undergone chemical transformations, so it is not a natural product. Neo-DHC does not occur in nature.
 

FUNTION:

1. Hydroxytyrosol and Heart Health

This antioxidant has been shown to aid in a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease by preventing low-density lipoprotein oxidation.

2. Hydroxytyrosol and Neurodegenerative Disorders

A powerful antioxidant that is rapidly absorbed, and capable of passing the blood brain barrier in relative large amounts. Therefore, it may be very useful in the treatment of oxidative stress associated with neurodegenerative disease.

3. Hydroxytyrosol and Oxidative Damage
