Brief:
Sodium stearate is a white oily powder with greasy feeling and fat smell. Soluble in hot water or hot alcohol. The aqueous solution is alkaline due to hydrolysis, and the alcohol solution is neutral. It is prepared by the interaction of octadecanoic acid and sodium hydroxide. It is used in the manufacture of toothpaste. It is also used as waterproof agent and plastic stabilizer. Sodium stearate is a white powder, slightly soluble in cold water, can quickly dissolve in hot water, and a very thick hot soap will not crystallize after cooling. It has excellent emulsification, penetration and decontamination, greasy feeling and fat smell.
